For too long, Western culture has removed rituals as a sacred moment, in which it has experienced the intensity of a change, or of a new evolutionary stage in which life welcomes us.
Birth, puberty, the discovery of sexuality, adulthood, middle age, the becoming of the elderly and finally death are all inevitable moments of passage in which each of us experiences a physical transformation, of thoughts and conscience.
In the days of the shaman ancestors, the elders were the guides for the younger ones who were led through these passages in a narrative way that gain clarity and strength rather than confusion and disorientation.
Modern cultures have impoverished these moments by depriving them of any existential content. Due to the absence of guides, teachers and role models, these passages are experienced as a "crisis", rather than as an opportunity for growth, thus losing the opportunity to consciously transform parts of one's being that have been injured or damaged in the course of the existential journey.
Discovering the nature and characteristics of these passages means mastering the process of life and its changes.
